TVPJA Has Passed the New York State Senate- But We Need Your Help with the New York State Assembly!
Did you know that in New York State, sex trafficking is a NON-violent felony? That means, among other things, that buyers who purchase the bodies of children are given a mere slap on the wrist. You can change this by calling on your New York State representatives to pass the Trafficking Victims Protection and Justice Act this legislative session, which ends on June 19, 2014. As of June 12, 2014, the Trafficking Victims Protection and Justice Act has been passed by the New York State Senate, but it has yet to be passed by the New York State Assembly. Call Speaker Sheldon Silver and your local Assembly Member today, and ask them to support the TVPJA (which is listed as A.2240D). Speaker Silver can be reached at (212) 312 1420 or 518 455 3971, and the name and phone number of your local Assembly Member can be found by entering your address here. |
